'Dancing With the Stars': Kirstie Alley, 'alive again' but still disappointed

She's been one of the most-talked about contestants in "Dancing With the Stars" history, so don't expect the conversation to change just because she didn't win.
Kirstie Alley has been noticeably rejuvenated by the series. And when Zap2it and other press met with her on the ballroom for just after she finished second, she explained how its changed her.
"It's rallied me alive again," she says. "It gave me a new view of what I want to do with my life. It mad me see that I can work really hard for what I want. The sweetness would be the ultimate win, but I could tell you a thousand wins that I've had in this."
Partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy, who's never won the title despite likely being the most famous pro on the series, is a little more dejected by the loss.

'Dancing With the Stars' winner Hines Ward planning touchdown dance for partner Kym Johnson

After 10 weeks of dominating the dance floor, Hines Ward and partner Kym Johnson took home the esteemed title of "Dancing With the Stars" champions for Season 12.
Zap2it was on the ballroom floor right after Hines and Kym got the news at the end of the two-hour finale, and he made it very clear to the press that he didn't go into the finale assuming anything.
"I looked over and I saw Kirstie [Alley]," Hines says of the final moments, after Chelsea Kane had already been eliminated. "I thought, oh jeez, everybody loves Kirstie. But it comes down to voting... It was the fans."
Hines appreciates the fans, though not as much as he does his partner. And she'll be getting a fitting tribute in the fall when Hines resumes his full-time job as wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

'American Idol' not done kicking around Haley Reinhart, a timeline

Not cool, "American Idol." Not cool.
If you are at all familiar with Zap2it's "Idol" coverage, you know we were less than thrilled with Haley Reinhart's exit from the show last week (Top 3). We felt the show needed her.
Our reasoning was pretty simple: The finale just looked so boring without her. Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina are talented, but they are both the definition of safe. No risk does not a fun finale make. We felt the finale needed a Haley or James Durbin, contestants who put on a show and took risks, performed songs we weren't expecting them to choose at all. (Haley took on Led freakin' Zeppelin in the Top 3! What?!)
Cue one hour before the finale on Tuesday, May 24, when news broke that Lauren may be dropping out of the finale due to vocal problems. We were shocked and -- dare we admit it? »

'Glee': Finn and Rachel's reunion nearly thwarted by the entire city of New York

"Glee" hasn't made it easy on us Finn/Rachel fans this season, has it? First, Ryan Murphy promised us a season sans breakups... and then they broke up before Christmas. Along came Quinn, back for round 2 of the Finn saga, and of course, Jesse St. James made his reappearance at a particularly inopportune moment.
The season finale gave us just enough Finchel goodness to mend our broken hearts... and then it crushed them mercilessly.
In a text message - obviously the new handwritten love-letter - Finn asked Rachel to meet her in Central Park and then took her to dinner at Sardi's, fulfilling one of the Broadway-bound Ohio girl's dreams when Patti Lupone just happened to be there, finishing up her meal. He even topped it with a street serenade courtesy of his slightly stalkery "Glee" BFFs, before going in for the kiss.
Unfortunately, we got not one, but two false starts. »

Who cares who wins "American Idol"?! We want to know if Scotty McCreery will shave his head for the results show on May 25!
Ok, not really. We prefer the country crooner with some hair on his melon, but ever since Jennifer Lopez requested that he shave his head for the finale, the question of whether or not he will cut his hair has plagued Scotty.
At a press conference on Monday, May 23, Scotty was asked if he would shave his head for Tuesday's performance show. "This has been the biggest thing on my mind! Every time I look in the mirror I think, 'Should I? Should I not?' I used to have short hair. That was me and the boys back home. We said, 'Short hair, don't care.' I'm torn," he explained. 'American Idol's' Lauren Alaina: 'I knew God would get me through my vocal problems'

Hours before the "American Idol" finale on Tuesday, May 24, near panic ensued when news broke that Lauren Alaina might not be able to perform due to vocal problems during rehearsals.
Luckily, Lauren was cleared to perform by her doctor (who obviously had to come on stage to explain the condition), despite the fact that she blew out a vocal chord. Ouch. At the top of the show, Lauren told host Ryan Seacrest, "I'm here. I'm ready to sing and I'm fine. Don't worry about it." And worry we did not.
Speaking with reporters after the show, Lauren said (via a notepad), "I knew somehow God would get me through it." Steven Tyler was asked if he was concerned before the show about Lauren's vocal problems. "I knew that she was a little hoarse, but they have steroids for that," he said. "Tomorrow she'll nail it."

'Supernatural' Season 7 goes on the run, plus: What did you think of Season 6?

In its sixth season, "Supernatural" felt, in many ways, like a whole new show. Creator Eric Kripke had completed his five-season arc, ending with the thwarted apocalypse, and he stepped aside for Sera Gamble to take over as showrunner.
When Season 6 opened with Dean as a comfortable family man and Sam as a soulless monster-killing machine, we all felt a little uncomfortable - even actors Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles.
Of course, that discomfort was all part of the plan, and by the end of the season our Winchesters where right back where we wanted them -- all souled up, side by side, fighting the bad guys. What we didn't expect was for one of their own, Castiel (Misha Collins), to flip the script on them. Flooded with the power of Purgatory, Castiel is no longer an angel, but a formidable god, and a whole new kind of threat to the Winchesters. »

'Dancing With the Stars' finale: Hines Ward is the winner of Season 12

You want to know the winner for "Dancing With the Stars?" Well, you're going to have to sit through three hours of packaged clips from the past 10 weeks first. Sorry!
Honestly, we love you "DWTS" (really, we're looking into a 12-step program), but it was nearly 10:20 p.m. by the time we got anything new out of you. The wait was worth for fans of the winner, though.
Breaking from the frequent tradition of axing one of the three finalists earlier in the broadcast, allowing all three remaining competitors -- Kirstie Alley, Chelsea Kane and Hines Ward -- to re-perform their favorite dance of the season, in hopes of a high score pushing them across the finish line.
Chelsea and partner Mark Ballas went first, bringing back their "Wizard Waltz" set to the "Harry Potter" score. It was perfect, obviously, adding 30 points to their 59 from the night before.

'Glee' season finale: Spreading the love around 'New York'

"Being in New York is like falling in love over and over again." -- Rachel Berry
Series creator Ryan Murphy may have spent two years getting New Directions -- and us -- to Nationals with a focus (especially in season two, as we wrote earlier) on music over story -- on singles, if you will, instead of a concept album. But that all changed Tuesday (May 24) with "Glee's" second season finale.
Murphy brought the story-telling back strong and, to quote Lenny Kravitz, totally let love rule. The show was literally awash in the four letter word.
Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison) -- who gives up his Broadway dream for his kids -- loves the Glee-sters. Rachel (Lea Michele) loves Broadway. Finn (Cory Monteith) loves Rachel. 'The Biggest Loser' finale: Olivia Ward weighs in as the winner

In quite possibly the most unique season of "The Biggest Loser" ever, 35-year-old opera singer, Olivia Ward, took the title and this season's $250,000 prize.
The New York City resident lost 129 pounds from her starting weight of 261 to knock out both her sister, Hannah Curlee, and the third place finalist, Irene Alvarado, for the win. She was a force to be reckoned with from the very beginning of the competition. And her desire to elevate her career from being typecast in the opera world drove her.
Her sister, 32-year-old human resources rep, Hannah, came in second place with a total weight loss of 120 pounds from her starting weight of 248 pounds. The Nashville gal had once been an athlete on her way to a pro career when a devastating car accident ended her sports career with a serious back injury.

'American Idol' Top 2: Lauren Alaina or Scotty McCreery - who takes it?

The moment has arrived! It's down to the "American Idol" Top 2 - Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina. After some pre-show hullabaloo about how Lauren might have lost her voice and Haley might have to replace her in the finals, it appears Lauren is fine. Or this is just a calculated move to see if a girl can win in the first time since Season 6.
The judges come out and J.Lo looks like a majorette, while Steven Tyler has just fully evolved into someone's crazypants Aunt Helen. Seacrest looks dapper in a tuxedo. Randy has on a brown shirt.
The rounds are contestants' choice, Idols' idol choice and first single. We'll do just like last week - pick a winner of each round.

Lauren Alaina's 'Like My Mother Does' lyrics: Will this song secure her win?

Lauren Alaina's last song on the final "American Idol" performance show was a touching tribute to her mother called "Like My Mother Does." Though Lauren struggled with a serious vocal strain before the performance -- she was almost unable to take the stage -- she ultimately managed to win the judges favor with songs like "Flat on the Floor" and "Maybe It Was Memphis."
If anything secured her the win, though, it was likely her song "Like My Mother Does," which will be her first single should she win the whole season in Wednesday night's all-star finale event.
"Every time I've gotten upset she's been right there to pick me up," Lauren said of her mother, and Jimmy agreed, saying, "The lyrics of this song really capture Lauren's journey."

'American Idol' video: Lauren Alaina's performances benefit from vocal rest

"American Idol" finalist Lauren Alaina injured her vocal cords during rehearsals for tonight's last performance show -- reportedly, she was struggling so much that producers made sure second runner-up Haley Reinhart was on hand to jump in just in case.
Luckily, the "Idol" doctor gave Lauren plenty of medicine and put her on vocal rest, and she managed to make it to the stage for her last chance at the "Idol" Season 10 crown. She opted to perform second, and was able to choose her favorite song from the season as her first song of the night. She went for Carrie Underwood's "Flat On the Floor."

'American Idol': Scotty McCreery's final performances

For the "American Idol" Final 2, there were three rounds - contestants' choice (a song they had done previously in the season), heroes' choice (Scotty's hero was George Strait) and each Idol's first single they will release if they win.
For Scotty's first round, he chose to go with "Gone" by country duo Montgomery Gentry. Scotty previously sang it as the "now" part of the Top 5 "Now and Then" theme. When he did it the first time, we liked it, but didn't love it. This time around, he seemed to have oodles more confidence in himself and turned in a pretty good performance.
In Round 2, George Strait chose one of his own songs for Scotty, which ... Ok, George. He picked "Check Yes or No" and Scotty gets to show off his voice better than on "Gone," but we were still hoping for more of a moment from him. Then Round 3 was his debut single, »

'Life Unexpected's' Britt Robertson talks 'Secret Circle's' Cassie

We loved Britt Robertson in the gone-too-soon series "Life Unexpected," so we were thrilled when we found out she'd be back on The CW in a whole new role as Cassie, the protagonist of "The Secret Circle," a witchy drama in the "Vampire Diaries" vein.
On "Life Unexpected," Britt's character was a foster kid who had a pretty traumatic childhood. When we first meet Cassie, she couldn't be more different. "In the beginning of the show... she has a really great relationship with her mom," Britt tells us. "They're super close and she lives a completely normal lifestyle. Pretty quickly into it, you realize that her mom -- well, she dies. So she has to go and live with her grandmother and she's thrown into some new circumstances."
In that way, Britt says that Cassie and Lux do share some parallels, which Britt says makes her job a little bit easier. »

Nancy Grace to be replaced by O.J. Simpson judge on 'Swift Justice'

After just one season on the syndicated justice television show, "Swift Justice," THR reports that Nancy Grace has given her final judgment of the series.
"Leaving such a successful show was a tough decision," Grace says. "But, with the increased requirements of the production's relocation to Los Angeles, it became challenging to balance my most important job -- mother to John David and Lucy back home. I will miss the California sunshine for now, but I will be back soon.
Jackie Glass will be taking her position at the bench in Season 2. Glass is most remembered for presiding over the case that sent O.J. Simpson to jail for his participation in a Las Vegas hotel robbery in 2008.

Anna Kournikova reportedly joins 'The Biggest Loser' as Jillian Michaels replacement

"The Biggest Loser" has an even bigger announcement to make on Tuesday's finale.
Reportedly, tennis star Anna Kournikova will be joining the show in Jillian Michaels' place next season, as she says goodbye to focus on family. X-17 first broke the news, saying that her $9 million Florida estate was put on the market earlier this month so that Kournikova could relocate to Los Angeles for the show.
While USA Today attempted a confirmation from NBC, they would only say:
"We can't comment at this time on the multiple casting rumors surrounding the show, but look forward to making a big announcement about Season 12 of 'The Biggest Loser' at our Season 11 finale Tuesday, May 24 at 8 p.m. Et on NBC."
If the rumor proves true, Kournikova will join new judges Cara Castronuova and Brett Hoebel, who have already been announced for next season.

Update: False alarm, Haley fans. Lauren is on stage as scheduled and says she's "ready to sing."
Some pretty interesting (and unprecedented news) from TMZ. Reportedly, "American Idol" finalist Lauren Alaina may have to drop out of Tuesday night's (May 24) Final 2 performances due to having lost her voice. Sources say during this afternoon's rehearsals, Lauren was unable to get through all three of her songs and doctors have said she should not sing or speak.
There is apparently a real possibility that Lauren will have to drop out. If that happens, third-place finisher Haley Reinhart will be reinstated and will compete alongside Scotty McCreery for the "American Idol" Season 10 crown.
This is so crazy, for several reasons. First of all, unprecedented. Secondly, as of the writing of this article, it is t-minus 70 minutes until the finale. What will Haley do? Sing Lauren's songs? And thirdly ... it probably won't even matter, »

'SVU' shocker: Chris Meloni leaves 'Law & Order'

Well, this is some sad news. TVLine reports that "Law & Order: Svu" star Christopher Meloni has left his post as Detective Elliot Stabler and will not be returning for the series' 13th season. According to the site, Meloni was still in talks with NBC Universal about a return deal as late as Tuesday, but negotiations broke down and series creator Dick Wolf is now looking for a replacement.
Producers are hoping to replace Meloni with a "big name," which is probably a good thing, as he'll have some very big shoes to fill. Meloni, along with co-star Mariska Hargitay, has been a central figure of the series since it began in 1999.
The Season 12 finale ended when, in a shocking stand-off, Stabler was forced to shoot an armed teenage girl who had opened fire on her mother's murderer (among others) in the Special Victims Unit squad room. The event left both Stabler and Benson visibly shaken. »

'The Chicago Code': Are you holding onto hope for Season 2?

One of the more lamentable casualties of the 2010/2011 season has to be Fox's "The Chicago Code."
The serial drama about a handful of cops trying to take down a corrupt political official earned a devout following and critical praise in its 13-episode run, but it wasn't enough to get a Season 2 pick-up from the network -- which seemed especially strapped for room in its fall schedule this year.
But have we really heard the last of the series? The obligatory "save our show" campaigns have popped up in the wake of the cancellation, but it's creator Shawn Ryan's optimism that keeps us from closing the book on "Code."
"Season Finale of #TheChicagoCode is on tonight," Ryan tweeted on May 23. "A final big ratings number is our only hope of luring someone else to pick up a 2nd Season."
It wasn't likely a direct response, but fans did turn out for the (series) finale. »
